I have seen 377 described as “Air transmission International. This code identifies the factory transmission type and specific gearbox configuration” but another database uses slightly different wording. Is this normally because the meaning changes by platform, market, or model year?

I would avoid buying retrofit parts until the connectors and module support are confirmed. Returning electronic or VIN-programmed components can be difficult.

Some codes are reused across several brands, but that does not always mean the parts are identical. Model, trim, drivetrain, and production date can all matter.

Check the production month as well as the model year. Mid-year changes are one reason two vehicles with the same badge can have different hardware or descriptions.
