The VIN report includes 7CL, described as “Performance Contracting Group. This code identifies a factory option package or special-edition equipment group” I would like to archive the correct information with the vehicle. Is there another factory document that normally confirms this code?

Before buying, I would inspect the relevant component and take a photo of its label or part number. That often resolves whether the vehicle still has the factory configuration associated with 7CL.

The safest interpretation is the one tied to the exact VIN, model year, platform, and market. In general, 7CL matches “Performance Contracting Group. This code identifies a factory option package or special-edition equipment group” but the included hardware can vary between applications.

I have seen this on a similar Jeep Gladiator. The basic description was correct, but one related feature was part of a separate package. I would not assume the code includes every item mentioned in marketing material.
